Evaluation of Wave Energy Location by Using an Integrated MCDM Approach

In recent years, sudden global energy demand has led to the gradual exhaustion of fossil fuel, world’s main resource. With negative impact fuel on environment, governments and organizations have increased R&D funding renewable resources such as solar wave energy. Vietnam a great potential for developing projects owing presence long coastline vast ocean. Choosing an optimal location wave-based power plant is multicriteria decision that requires understanding quantitative qualitative elements assessing balance factors when trying reach most accurate result. This study proposes multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model, fuzzy-analytic hierarchical process (FAHP), weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS) in evaluating stations at Vietnamese coastline. The authors identify all criteria sub-criteria affecting selection through literature review expert interview. Selection include height, distance between two waves, number wind speed, duration, ocean depth, turbulence, water quality, coastal erosion, shipping density, protection laws, labor resources, safety conditions, other related factors. FAHP was used determining weights identified first stage this study. Finally, WASPAS model employed rank alternatives involved making effective decision. aimed develop tool enhance solving fuzzy problems. We propose real-world effectiveness proposed model.
